HOA Parking Pitfalls

Parking poses a major problem for some HOA homeowners.

Here’s the issue: streets located within HOA communities are either government-owned by a city, etc. or by the HOA if given jurisdiction by the governing documents over the private roadways within the planned community. HB 2034, a bill I sponsored this session, solves a problem caused by planned communities confusing the issue by regulating roads they do not own. It clarifies that an HOA only has jurisdiction over roadways, easements and other areas under its ownership. [Read more]

Private Property v. 2nd Amendment Rights

Your right to bear arms has a good chance of obtaining further protection in Arizona this year. The House Judiciary Committee recently approved by a 6-2 vote, HB 2474, a measure preventing property owners, tenants, employers and businesses from prohibiting the storage or transport of lawfully possessed firearms in locked and privately-owned vehicles parked in a parking lot, parking garage, or other designated parking area. Abortion Consent Act Defies Argument

HB 2564-the Abortion Consent Act-passed out of the House Health and Human Services committee 5-0 with hardly a dissent. Several committee members decided to leave the scene during deliberations of the bill.

Even Planned Parenthood and NARAL, predictably opposed to the bill, did not speak against it in committee even while facilitating hundreds of stock e-mails to Legislators’ inboxes – spreading all manner of misinformation. Interestingly, not one of the e-mail senders testified in committee. [Read more]
